Glen Vilhauer:
Experienced Leadership for District 5 State Senate
Raised on a family farm near Tripp, South Dakota, Glen grew up valuing family, faith, focus, and hard work. After graduating from the University of South Dakota in 1981, Glen and his wife, Darla, established Watertown as their home. Together, they shared the joy of raising their children–Darin, Chad and Kali–in Watertown. Today, they have six wonderful grandchildren.
Glen was a successful accountant in Watertown for decades as a shareholder of Vilhauer Raml & Snyder PC until he retired in 2015. During his career as a CPA, Glen served on the Taxation and Legislation Committees of the South Dakota CPA Society.
After retirement, Glen beckoned the call for public service and was elected to the Watertown City Council in 2015. During his tenure, Glen served as Council President and Deputy Mayor. In 2023, he chose not to seek re-election for Council.

Member of First United Methodist Church in Watertown. Currently serves as President of the Foundation Board of Directors

Glen is excited to bring his experience, conservative principles, and South Dakota values to the South Dakota State Senate and serve the Watertown community in the Legislature.
Glen served on the Watertown City Council from 2015 to 2023. During that time he always put the community first. Respected by his colleagues on the council, they elected him Council President and Deputy Mayor during his tenure.
